This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. If you install Microsoft Outlook on Microsoft Windows 98, you may
not have Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Fax as available services in Outlook.
In addition, other MAPI services such as Internet Mail and the Microsoft
Network may not work.
CAUSE
Windows Messaging (previously known as Exchange Client) and Microsoft Fax
(previously known as At Work Fax) are no longer available as installation
options with Windows 98
NOTE: Microsoft Fax and Windows Messaging are not supported if you did not have each installed and working properly prior to installing Windows 98. Additionally, some OEM versions of Windows 98 do not include either of these items. RESOLUTION
Run the Windows Messaging (Wms.exe) installer and the Microsoft Fax
(Awfax.exe) installer from the <cd drive>:\tools\oldwin95\message\us folder
on your Windows 98 compact disc.

installation programs from your Windows 98 compact disc. You can find these

To Install Microsoft FaxNOTE: Microsoft Fax requires the installation of a full MAPI client, such as Windows Messaging or Microsoft Exchange.
NOTE: If these files are installed over an existing installation of Outlook 2000 (Corporate or Workgroup), rerun Outlook setup from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. This is needed to update the files used by Outlook that are needed in a newer configuration. REFERENCES
