XCON: MAD Consumes 100% CPU While Recalculating Routing

SYMPTOMS

An Administrator attempts to recalculate routing, but the action never finishes. The Mad.exe process is seen to be using approximately 100% of the CPU.

CAUSE

A logic error in the code which generates an ELSE leg of the Gateway Routing Table (GWART) causes the recalculation to loop.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3.
