OL2000: (IMO) Cannot Remove WinFax by Disabling the Extension

SYMPTOMS

After disabling the extension for the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition and removing the account, the next time you start Outlook or click Accounts on the Tools menu, Symantec WinFax Starter Edition shows as an account.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Removing the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition account and add-in does not disable fax capability. In order to prevent the fax service from loading, you must also remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition support files and the files associated with the account.
