SYMPTOMS

When you use the mouse to try to move or resize parts of a chart, you cannot move the following elements of the chart:
  • Axes' titles
  • Chart title
  • Plot Area
  • Legend
  • Value Axis Display Unit Label

CAUSE

When you create a chart based upon a PivotTable report, you cannot move or resize some PivotChart objects. Moving or resizing the chart elements listed in the "Symptoms" section would change the layout of the PivotChart report; therefore, you cannot change them.

MORE INFORMATION

In Microsoft Excel, you can create a chart based on a PivotTable. When you create a PivotChart report from a PivotTable report, row fields in the table become category fields in the chart, and column fields in the table become series fields in the chart.

A PivotChart can use any of the available chart types in Excel except for xy (scatter), bubble, or stock chart types. When you change the layout of the PivotChart report by dragging a field, the layout of the associated PivotTable report also changes. However, unlike a chart that is not based upon a PivotTable report, the following elements of the chart are unmovable, and you cannot resize them in a PivotChart report:
  • Axes' titles
  • Chart title
  • Plot Area
  • Legend
  • Value Axis Display Unit Label
