Symptoms

When you create a Pivot Chart or a Pivot Table in Microsoft Office Access 2007, the Field List does not appear.

Cause

When the Current Database Document Window option in Microsoft Office Access Options is set to the default, "Tabbed Documents," the Field List is hidden behind the form even though the Ribbon Field List icon indicates it is not hidden.

Microsoft has confirmed this is a problem in Microsoft Office Access 2007.

Resolution

On the Ribbon Design tab in the Show/Hide group, click twice on the Field List icon.

More Information

The Field List will be visible in new Pivot Charts and Pivot Tables when the Current Database option for Document Window Options is "Overlapping Windows."

Steps to reproduce

  1. In the Northwind2007.accdb database, select the Customers table
  2. On the Ribbon Create tab in the Forms group, select PivotChart or select More Forms and PivotTable
