FIX: Euro Symbol in ODL/IDL File Causes Visual C++ IDE to Stop Responding

SYMPTOMS

If you insert the Euro () currency symbol into an Object Description Language (ODL) or Interface Description Language (IDL) file, the Visual C++ integrated development environment (IDE) stops responding ("hangs").

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This bug was corrected in the next service pack for Visual Studio 6.0.
