SymptomsWhen renaming a file, folder, or shortcut on the desktop, it will disappear until you refresh the desktop. CauseThis can occur if "User Account Control" (UAC) under "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts" is set to "Never Notify" for the logged on user. ResolutionSet the UAC to the Default setting of "Default - Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer". - or - If changes are made to the default UAC setting, you can do one of the following: 1.
