Problem description

Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) fails to connect to your Windows Mobile Phone.  iPhone fails to connect and may display an error 0xE8000065

What caused the problem?

There is an issue with Intel based P55 mother boards that is causing problems with USB devices.

How do I fix the problem

If your motherboard was made by Gigabyte, there are updates available for GA-P55A-UD series motherboards. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/News/Motherboard/News_List.aspx?NewsID=1491

ASUS and MSI also produce Intel P55 based motherboards.  Check their web sites for possible updates.

If no BIOS update is avaialable for your Intel P55 based motherboard yet, many customers have fixed their problem with a BIOS setting change.  The BIOS can be accessed by key (such as F12) that is shown on the first splash screen when your PC starts up after being fully shutdown or rebooted .  In the BIOS set  "C State" to enabled.  The exact menus in the BIOS to enable the "C State" may vary by manufacturer.
