When you manually start a Microsoft Component Services (COM+) application that uses object pooling on the computer, the following event is logged unexpectedly in the Application log:
Log Name: Application Note If the COM+ application does not use object pooling, this event is logged only when the first call to the COM+ application is made from a remote client. This event is not logged for later calls to the COM+ application. CAUSEThis issue occurs because the hang detection timer of the operating system is set to -1 when you manually start a COM+ application that uses object pooling. This indicates that the data for hang detection is not available. However, "-1" is incorrectly interpreted as a very high call time. Therefore, the event is logged unexpectedly in the Application log. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
