Summary

Outlook 2000 will upgrade and silently convert from the following e-mail programs:
  • Netscape Mail (Netscape Navigator 2.03, 3.01)
  • Netscape Messenger 4.0x
  • Eudora Lite (1.54 and 3.0.x)
  • Eudora Pro (2.2, 3.0, 3.0.x and 4.x)
  • Microsoft Internet Mail and News
  • Microsoft Outlook Express
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Microsoft Outlook 97 and 98

NOTE: Netscape Messenger 4.5 is not supported with this conversion technology. To import e-mail from Messenger 4.5 into Outlook, you can import the messages into Microsoft Outlook Express, and then import the messages from Outlook Express into Outlook.

More information

Outlook uses the Windows Installer to detect existing mail clients on the First Run of Outlook.

During the First Run process, the installer checks for the presence of registry entries for any of the e-mail clients in the "Summary" section. If any of the e-mail clients exists, you are asked about conversion of mail messages or addresses.
