Prerequisites

To apply this update package, you must have the following applications installed:

• Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Administration Tools
• SQL Client Tools
• If you install SQL 2008 Client Tools, you must also install SQL 2005 SP2 Backward Compatibility.

Before you install this update, Office Communications Server Front End Service (rtcsrv) must be stopped.

Restart requirement

You may have to restart the computer after you apply this update package.

Note Before you install this update, Office Communications Server Front End Service (rtcsrv) has to be stopped.

Installation information depends on the server role that you apply the database update to.

Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard Edition

Install this update on any of the following servers that are running Office Communications Server 2007 R2:

• Standard Edition Server
• Director (Standard Edition)

To install this update, run the OCS2009-DBUpgrade.msi file directly.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition (EE)

You can install the database update from the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition back-end, or from the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition front-end. However, we recommend that you install the database update from the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition back-end.

To install the database update for Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Edition, type the following command:Where Poolname is the Enterprise Edition Pool name.

Note If you have moved the database from a server that is running office Communications Server 2007 R2 (Back-End) that had update 2032834 installed to a new server that is running Communications Server 2007 R2 (Back-End), you must reapply update 2032834 to the new server.

Removal information

This update cannot be removed. To remove the update, you must remove and then reinstall Communications Server 2007 R2. The following instructions only help you remove the update listing from Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard Edition

Remove the update listing for this update package from Add or Remove Programs on any of the following servers that are running Office Communications Server 2007 R2:

• Standard Edition Server
• Director (Standard Edition)

To remove the update listing for this update package from Add or Remove Programs, run the OCS2009-DBUpgrade.msi file.

Remove the update listing for this update package from Add or Remove Programs on any of the following servers that are running Office Communications Server 2007 R2:
