XL2000: Cell Alignment Does Not Display Properly in Browser

SYMPTOMS

When you save a Microsoft Excel worksheet as HTML, and view it in a Web browser, cell alignment may not appear correct in certain browser versions.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when one or more of the following conditions is true:

  • Your browser version has limited HTML capabilities.

    -or-

  • Your browser version does not support Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, you can force Excel to create additional HTML code, which allows older browser versions to correctly align cells. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the General Tab, click Web Options.
  3. Click to clear the Rely on CSS for font formatting check box.
  4. Click OK twice.
