SYMPTOMS

DirectSound and the Diamond Monster Sound tool in Control Panel both have the ability to change the speaker configuration, but do it in different ways. CAUSE

This issue occurs because DirectSound and Diamond Monster Sound store the current speaker configuration in different registry keys.
