When you preview a web page that contains a FrontPage component (by clicking the Preview tab at the bottom of
the FrontPage window or by clicking Preview In Browser on the
Standard toolbar), you may receive the following message:
This page contains elements that may need to be saved or published to
display properly.
CAUSE
FrontPage components that interact with a Web server will not function when you create a disk-based FrontPage Web. Browse-time components will only function when you use a HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) server on which you have installed the FrontPage Server Extensions.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, use the appropriate method for your
situation.
Method 1: If you have pages with an ASP file extensionPublish Active Server Pages on one of the following server configurations:

Active Server Pages (ASP) Discussion Form Handler Database Results Wizard (creates ASP pages) Hit Counter Registration Form Handler Save Results Form Handler Dynamic Table of Contents Search Form Determining Whether You Are Using a Disk-based Web or Server-based WebTo determine whether you have a disk-based Web or a server-based Web, open your Web in FrontPage and look at the title bar. If the title of your Web contains a drive letter and one or more backslashes, similar to the following, you have a disk-based web:
c:\myweb
If the title of your Web contains "http" and forward slashes, similar to the following, you have a server-based web:
http://myweb
NOTE: The alert described in the summary section will always be shown if you are looking at the Preview tab, regardless of whether or not the web is on a web server.
