SYMPTOMS

Works 2000 file viewer user interfaces act or appear differently. Some files may open more slowly than normal or the files may appear incomplete. These files may include text, graphic files, or animated files.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if older versions of some file viewers have overwritten newer versions of the same file viewer.

File viewers may be overwritten if older versions of a program are loaded into the same computer that contains newer versions of the program. For example loading an older version of Works onto the same computer that contains Works 2000, may accidentally replace some of the viewers with older versions of the viewers without the user's knowledge.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, reinstall the program that contains the file viewers you want. To reinstall Works 2000, follow these steps:
  1. Insert the Works CD.
  2. Click Start on the Windows taskbar.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Type drive:\setup.exe in the Open box, where drive is the CD drive, and then click OK.
  5. On the Welcome back screen, click Next.
  6. On the Options screen, click Reinstall.
  7. Click Next, and then follow the instructions to complete the reinstallation.
