SYMPTOMS

When you start the JumpStart 2nd Grade program by Knowledge Adventure, Inc., you may receive the following error message:
2G caused a general protection fault in module S3MM.DRV at address

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you have an S3 video driver installed on your computer, and you configure the screen to use more than 256 colors.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, configure the screen to use 256 colors:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Display icon, and then click the Settings tab.
  3. In the Colors box, click 256 Colors, click OK, and then follow the instructions on your screen to finish changing the color depth on your computer.
