XL: Cell Appears Blank with Angled Text and Small Row Height

SYMPTOMS

When you decrease the height of a row in Microsoft Excel, the content of a cell in the row may disappear and the cell may appear to be blank.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:
  • You format a cell to use text orientation that is either greater or less than 0.

    -and-
  • You decrease the height of the row that contains the cell in question.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, increase the row height until the number is visible.
