XL2000: Error Changing Order of Option Buttons on a Dialog Sheet

SYMPTOMS

When you change the tab order or the order of an option button (for example you change Send To Back or Send To Front) on a Microsoft Excel 5.0 style dialog sheet, and then display the dialog sheet; you receive an error, and then Microsoft Excel quits.

In Microsoft Windows 95/98, you receive the following error:
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module EXCEL.EXE at 0137:301203ed.
In Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 or later, you receive the following error:
An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.
EXCEL.exe Exception: access violation(0xc0000005), Address: 0x301203ed

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:

  • After you change the tab order for the option buttons, save, close, and then reopen the workbook before you display the dialog sheet.

    -or-

  • After you change the tab order for the option buttons, add an additional option button to the dialog sheet before you display it.
NOTE: After the dialog sheet is displayed, you can delete the additional option button.
