XL2000: Modules Inserted Manually Are Not in Modules Collection

SYMPTOMS

When you use a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro to determine the members in the Modules collection in a workbook, some Visual Basic modules may be unexpectedly excluded from the collection.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because any modules that you manually insert into a project in the Visual Basic Editor are not added to the Modules collection. Only those modules that you add by using the Add method for the Module object are members of the Modules collection.

For backward compatibility, the Modules collection is available in Microsoft Excel 2000; however, modules that you add manually are not added to the collection.

For example, the following macro loops through all of the components in the active project and displays a message box with the name of each component:
Sub Project_Components()
   For Each x In Application.VBE.ActiveVBProject.VBComponents
      MsgBox x.Name
   Next
End Sub
