"The requested mode is invalid." error message when you run the Move-DominoGroupToAD cmdlet in an Exchange Server 2007 environment

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Microsoft Transporter Suite in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 environment.
  • You migrate directory objects from Lotus Domino servers to Exchange Server 2007 servers.
  • The Exchange Server 2007 server domains are in Windows Server 2008 R2 domain mode.
  • You run the Move-DominoGroupToAD cmdlet.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

The requested mode is invalid.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a .NET Framework function is used by Transporter Suite. Additionally, Windows Server 2008 R2 is not treated as a valid domain mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the following update rollup:
2260240  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2260240/ ) FIX: "The requested mode is invalid" error message when you run a managed application that uses the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or an earlier version to access a Windows Server 2008 R2-based domain or forest

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
