OFF2000: Only One Icon Visible in Taskbar When "Windows in Taskbar" Option Is Selected

SYMPTOMS

When you have multiple documents open in any of the programs listed, only one icon for the program appears in the taskbar even though the Windows in Taskbar option in the Options dialog box is selected.

CAUSE

This problem will occur if the following conditions are true:
  • You are running Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows NT

    -and-

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01, SP1 (or SP2) with the Windows Desktop Update was not installed on your computer before you installed Office.
NOTE: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 does not install the Windows Desktop Update. For more information, please see the Internet Explorer 5 Ie.txt file.

WORKAROUND
