OL2000: (CW): "Operation Failed" Error Sending E-mail Addressed to Many Contacts

SYMPTOMS

If you select a large number of contacts at the same time and then click New Message to Contact on the Tools menu in an attempt to send e-mail to them, you may receive the following error message:
Operation failed.
The number of contacts you select when receiving this error message may vary depending on the e-mail address format.

RESOLUTION

Create the new message first. Then, from the Outlook Address Book select the addresses to which you want to send the message. This method should allow you to use a large number of addresses in the same e-mail message.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
