System Drive Cannot be Hidden in Windows NT Explorer View

SYMPTOMS

Hiding the system drive as described in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base
158457  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/158457/EN-US/ ) Defining Local and Remote Drive Visibility Under WinNT 4.0
does not work for the system drive in the Windows NT Explorer view. The system drive is hidden from view in My Computer and in default system file Open/Save dialog boxes.

In Windows NT Explorer view, all drives but the system drive can be hidden.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT version 4.0 Service Pack 5.
