INTRODUCTION

This article describes a known issue that occurs when you install the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1) updates or the .NET Framework 3.5 updates. Specifically, all security updates for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 or for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 show "Update" or "Hotfix" instead of "Security Update" during the installation and in the Add or Remove Programs window after installation. This issue occurs because of a limitation in the schema of the underlying tooling that is used to build the update. This issue does not have a material effect on the update installation, and you can ignore this issue.
