Local Group Policy Settings Do Not Take Effect

When an administrator or user sets local policy objects to affect local users or computers in the Group Policy snap-in, the settings may not take effect at the next computer startup or user logon.

This behavior can occur if the local group policy has been disabled. This is enabled by default.

Verify that local group policies are not disabled:

1. Open the Group Policy snap-in.
2. Double-click Computer Management.
3. Right-click Local Computer Policy.
4. Click to clear the Disable user configuration settings and Disable computer configuration settings check boxes.

This behavior is by design.

There is no message informing you that you must enable the settings for them to take effect.
