FIX: Multiserver jobs are not downloaded from SQL Server 2000 in the MSX role to SQL Server 2008 or to SQL Server 2008 R2 in the TSX role

Consider the following scenario:

• You configure a server that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as a master server (MSX).
• You try to enlist a server that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 as a target server (TSX).

In this scenario, multiserver jobs are not downloaded from the target server when they are created. If you try to run a multiserver job from the master server, the job fails, and the error log of the SQLServerAgent displays the following error:

This issue occurs because the query that is run by the SQLServerAgent (TSX) was updated in SQL Server 2008 and in SQL Server 2008 R2 to fix a query parameterization issue. This change to the query syntax is unsupported by the SQL Server 2000 query syntax. When the updated query is run a computer that is running SQL Server in the MSX role, the query fails.
