This article presents a list of all the files installed by MDAC 2.0 SP2. MDAC 2.0 SP2 (Mdac_typ.exe) can be downloaded from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/aa937729.aspx (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/aa937729.aspx) .

All the following locations of files are given as they were installed on Windows NT. For Windows 95 and Windows 98, replace Winnt with Windows and System32 with System.



NOTE: Preceding zeros (0's) can be ignored when determining version numbers; for example, version 2.0.3002.12 is the same as version 02.0.3002.12.

What is the difference between Data Access SDK Stand Alone Setup and MDAC Redistribution Typical Setup?

If you want to get the sample source code and documentation along with MDAC 2.0 components, you need to install the Data Access SDK 2.0. This can be obtained by downloading the Data Access SDK 2.0 Stand Alone Setup (Dasdksa.exe 37.8 MB) from the above Web site or from the DASDK folder on the Visual Studio 6.0, Visual C++ 6.0, or Visual Basic 6.0 CD-ROM. After installing the SDK, you can upgrade the components to MDAC 2.0 SP2 by downloading Mdac_typ.exe and running the setup program. If samples and documentation are not needed, Mdac_typ.exe alone is sufficient to give you all the Data Access Components for your application needs.

Make sure that DCOM 95 (http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom1_2/dcom1_2.asp) is installed on Windows 95 before installing MDAC (this is not necessary on Windows 98 or Windows NT).
