Cannot Download Large Files Over HTTPS Using Proxy Server Combined Hotfix

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to download a file via HTTPS through Proxy Server 2.0 with the Proxy Server Combined Hotfix applied, the download may fail after a short amount of time. The Internet browser may stop responding or download an incomplete file. Internet Explorer may return the following error message:
Internet Explorer cannot download from the internet site [file name] from [Web_site_name or IP_Address]. Server returned invalid or unrecognized response.

RESOLUTION

This problem is resolved in Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1). For more information about Service Pack 1, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The error observed by the client browser depends on the browser used to download the file, the size of the file, and the available bandwidth used while downloading the file.
