FIX: Out of Memory Error Setting SQL Char Properties

SYMPTOMS

An "Out of Memory" error is raised when trying to set a property defined with a SQLType of SQL_CHAR. This error is not raised until you try to commit the property that you are setting.

This does not reproduce against an Access-based Repository.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This bug was corrected in Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 3.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Open an existing Repository.
Start a Transaction.
Use the CreatePropertyDef method of the InterfaceDef object to create a new property specifying a SQLType of SQL_CHAR.
Commit the tranaction.
Create an Object that implements the Interface.
Instantiate the object.
Set the Property. The result is that an "Out of Memory" error is raised and the calling application hangs.
