Things to Try

You are trying to save your document to a removable disk drive...

You are trying to save your document to a removable disk drive, and the removable media is not present for saving. For example, your floppy disk drive does not contain a floppy disk.
  • Make sure the removable media is available for saving by reinserting the media.

NOTE: While you are saving a file to a floppy disk, you must not remove the floppy disk from the disk drive until the operation is completely finished (the light on the floppy disk drive turns off and stays turned off).
  • Make sure the removable media is not write-protected.

You are trying to save to a disk drive that is experiencing a hardware failure.

To temporarily work around this problem, save your document to a different location such as a hard disk, floppy disk, or network connection.

You are trying to save to a network connection that no longer is available.

To temporarily work around this problem, save your document to a local hard disk or floppy disk. Contact your network administrator.

You are trying to save a file as a Web page and you have uninstalled your Web browser.

To save a document as a Web page in Word, you must have a Web browser installed. Reinstall your Web browser.
