Symptoms

When you start the SQL Server Profiler, you may see the following error message in the Windows Event Viewer Application log:
Date:     3/25/99          Event ID: 998

Computer: {computer name}  Category: Internal Error
Description:
Executable	: C:\MSSQL7\Binn\sqltrace.exe
Description	: Set focus failed

Status

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 1 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
