WD2000: Template Added to Templates and Add-ins Doesn't Load on Restart of Word

SYMPTOMS

When you add a template to your list of Templates and Add-ins (on the Tools menu, click Templates and Add-ins), when you restart Word, the template is no longer selected as being currently loaded.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design. The template must exist in the Word startup folder to be automatically loaded when you start Word.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, move or copy your template to the Word 2000 startup folder.

The default path for the Word 2000 startup folder is as follows:

On Windows 95 and later:

C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

On Windows NT:

C:\WINNT\Profiles\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
