Visual InterDev 6.0 fails with a General Protection Fault (GPF), when switching from Design View to Source View if a Page Transition (Design-Time Controls) DTC and Recordset DTC have been added to an Active Server Pages (ASP) page.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This bug was corrected in Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 3. For more information about Visual Studio service packs, please see the following articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Open an ASP page.
  2. Add a Page Transition DTC within the <head></head> tags.
  3. Switch to Design View.
  4. Add a Recordset DTC to the page.
  5. Answer Yes to the enable SOM prompt.
  6. Switch back to Source View.

Result: Visual InterDev will cause a General Protection Fault and shut down.
