You use a memory usage monitoring tool that uses the Toolhelp APIs to monitor an application on a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2-based device or on a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device. When the system has too many heaps or when the system has large heaps, the tool may not work correctly.
For example, you use the DevHealth60.exe utility to report the memory information about the application. When there are lots of memory heaps, the utility may not work correctly.
This issue occurs because the system requires more than 4 megabytes (MB) to store the heap information. However, the maximum buffer size of the Toolhelp snapshot is 4 MB. This behavior causes some heap data to be excluded from the Toohelp snapshot. Therefore, you experience the issue that is described in the Symptoms section.

This update adds a registry entry that specifies the size of the Toolhelp snapshot buffer.
After you install the update, you can add the following information to the Project.reg file to specify the buffer size: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\KERNEL\TOOLHELP] "THSnapReserve"=dword:0x00400000
Note The THSnapReserve registry entry is defined in bytes and the range is between 4MB and 128 MB. The default value of the registry key is 4MB. The registry key value is read by the operating system only during the startup process.
This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.
After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:
On the Build menu, click Clean, and then click Build Platform.
On the Build menu, click Rebuild Platform.
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
