FIX: Wrong HTML Editor Picked in Internet Explorer 5

SYMPTOMS

After installing Internet Explorer 5.0, the Visual InterDev Source View editor no longer displays color coding or statement completion.

CAUSE

The Source View editor of Visual InterDev 6.0 is currently incompatible with Internet Explorer 5.0 Compatibility Mode, and may not function correctly.

RESOLUTION

Install Visual Studio Service Pack 3

-OR-

Uninstall Internet Explorer 5.0 and reinstall without the Compatibility Mode option.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This bug was corrected in Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 3.
