SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You enable the Prevent changing wallpaper Group Policy setting on a computer that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2).
  • In the Windows Mobility Center, you select the  I am currently giving a presentation check box and the Turn off screen saver check box under Presentation Settings.
In this scenario, the Turn off screen saver option does not work. Therefore, the screen saver is not turned off when you deliver a presentation. If you start the Windows Mobility Center again, you will find that the Turn off screen saver check box is not selected.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because of an error in the Presentationsettings.exe component. This component uses the wrong flag to disable the screen saver when the Prevent changing wallpaper Group Policy setting is enabled. Therefore, the screen saver is not turned off as expected.
