Article ID: 2251474 - Last Review: July 22, 2010 - Revision: 1.0 Calling an Office Communicator 2007 R2 user fails when you change a matching number in the Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt file
SYMPTOMSIf you change a matching number in the Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt file, telephone numbers in presence XML are not updated. Therefore, calls may fail to Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 users whose phone numbers in presence XML are not updated. For example, previously a telephone number is normalized to "tel: +85226787586; ext=25586". If you change the normalization rule and the same telephone number is normalized to "tel: +85226787586" without the "ext=", the telephone number in presence XML is not updated. However, the telephone number in the GalContacts.db file is updated. Therefore, you can successfully call the Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 user when the GalContacts.db file is used. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the new telephone numbers are not published by Office Communicator 2007 R2. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, install the following update rollup: 2028888
