Call forwarding does not work if you configure the call forwarding setting by using Office Communicator Web Access 2007 R2

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a newly created Microsoft Office Communicator user account and Enterprise Voice is enabled for your account.
  • You have never used this user account to sign in to Office Communicator before.
  • You sign in to Office Communicator Web Access (CWA) 2007 R2.
  • You configure a call forwarding number in the Forward my calls to box.
  • Another user calls you.
In this scenario, you find that call forwarding does not work.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the routing category version that is set by CWA 2007 R2 and the value of minSupportedClientVersion are set as undefined in the scenario that is described in the “symptoms” section. Therefore, the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 server ignores the call routing rules because the version is undefined and not recognized.  

RESOLUTION

To fix this problem, install the following cumulative update:
983469 Description of the cumulative update package for Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Communicator Web Access: July 2010

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
