"You do not have permissions to schedule meetings and conferences on behalf of the owner of this account" error message when a delegate schedules a Live Meeting conference

SYMPTOMS

A delegate schedules a Live Meeting conference on behalf of other users by using Microsoft Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in for Microsoft Outlook. In this situation, the users receive the following error message:

You do not have permissions to schedule meetings and conferences on behalf of the owner of this account. Please get permissions to the owner's Outlook and then try again.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the External field under Technical Support URL is blank in the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Web Component properties dialog box.

RESOLUTION

To fix this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1 Install the following cumulative update:
2029027 Description of the update for the Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in for Outlook: July 2010

Method 2 Specify a URL in the External field under Technical Support URL. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 administration console.
  2. Right-click the name of the Enterprise Edition pool or the Standard Edition server, point to Properties, and then click Web Component Properties.
  3. In the Web Component Properties dialog box, click the Meeting Invitations tab.
  4. Under Technical Support URL, specify a URL in the External field.
  5. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
