When trying to preview Excel files in Windows 7 preview pane you get the following message.

"This file can't be previewed because of an error in the Microsoft Office Excel previewer."

Excel doesn't display a preview of the Excel files by default.  If you want to turn this on follow these steps:

1. Open Excel, click on the File tab, choose Info
2. In the right hand pane click on Properties dropdown arrow
3. click on Advanced Properties and choose Summary Tab
4. Place a check mark in the "Save Thumbnails for All Excel Documents"
