technique to move an object to another slide as a hyperlink. If you do this
with a presentation that has been saved to a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)
or File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server, they will initially seem to function
correctly. If you reopen the file, start the slideshow, and try to navigate
through the show using these hyperlinks after you save and close the
presentation, you will get the following error message:
Cannot open the specified file. CAUSE When you work with a file stored on a HTTP or FTP server,
you are actually working with a temporary copy of the file, that has been
downloaded into your temporary directory. The hyperlinks that are created by
the copy and paste method will reference this temporary file instead of the
actual file on the server. The links will have the following format: Temp_Path\msoXXX.TMP#N. Slide N Where Temp_Path is the path to your
local temp directory, XXX is a number assigned to
the temporary file, and N is the index position of
the slide in the presentation. WORKAROUNDUse Action Settings to Link to SlidesInstead of using the Paste Hyperlink feature of PowerPoint 2000, use the Action settings feature to set up hyperlinks between slides in the same presentation. To do this, follow these steps:
