PPT2000: Pack and Go Fails Without Errors When Packing From FTP or HTTP Server

SYMPTOMS

When you pack a presentation that is saved on an HTTP or FTP server, the Pack and Go wizard will end after the following message is displayed:
Pack and Go Status: Packaging Presentation.
No packed presentation is generated, and you receive no error messages.

CAUSE

Pack and Go does not support packing your presentation to an HTTP or FTP server.

WORKAROUND

You must save the presentation to the local drive or a network drive before Pack and Go will package the presentation.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.
