SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You have a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device. You try to load an executable file that is not pageable or you try to load an executable file in the release directory on the device. In this scenario, you receive a "Prefetch Abort" or a "Data Abort" exception. For example, when you try to load Udevice.exe or Cemgrc.exe on the device, you receive the "Prefetch Abort" or the "Data Abort" exception. CAUSEThis issue occurs because of an error in the CreateNewProcHelper function. The loader calls the CreateNewProcHelper function to load the executable file into RAM. However, the CreateNewProcHelper function does not flush the instruction cache and the data cache before the kernel switches to a new process. Note This issue only occurs when the instruction cache and the data cache are write-allocate caches.
