After you upgrade your Microsoft Windows 98/95-based computer to Windows 2000, all sample script files for the Windows Script Host (WSH), usually located in the Windows\Samples\Wsh folder, are missing. Also, any sample scripts copied to other locations while keeping the same name are missing. However, custom scripts you may have created remain intact.

This issue occurs because the upgrade process removes all portions of the Windows 98/95 installation, including the WSH sample scripts.
NOTE: If you have standard Windows 98/95 files in non-default folders, you receive a warning message in the upgrade report that tells you to back up your files.

To prevent this issue from occurring, before you upgrade your Windows 98/95-based computer to Windows 2000, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Copy the WSH sample script files to an alternate location. |
| 2. | Rename the WSH sample script files. |

This behavior is by design.
