SYMPTOMS

When you view your network adapter in Device Manager, you may see a yellow exclamation point next to your network adapter, and if you view its properties, you may receive the following error message:
This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. (Code 10)
Try upgrading the device drivers for this device.
NOTE: The error message you receive may differ slightly from this one.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if your network adapter is not seated properly, or does not have a network cable connected to it. Note that most network adapters do not need a network cable connection to operate correctly in Device Manager.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, verify that your network adapter is seated properly, has a network cable connected to it, and then obtain and install the most current driver for your network adapter.
