Dr Watson Error After Installing Application on Windows NT Terminal Server

SYMPTOMS

Following the installation of a program, your computer running Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server encounters an access violation in Termsrv.exe. After this access violation, users are unable to connect to the Terminal Server computer.

This behavior occurs only when your computer running Windows NT Terminal Server has more than 100 installed applications which have each registered uninstall information in subkeys of the following registry location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, Service Pack 5.
