SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Excel or Microsoft PowerPoint to open an HTML document that contains a <MARQUEE> element, the element is displayed as plain text rather than the scrolling marquee that appears in Microsoft Word.

CAUSE

Excel 2000 and PowerPoint 2000 do not support the <MARQUEE> element.

WORKAROUND

In PowerPoint 2000, you may be able to achieve the effect you want by using built-in animation effects.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft Office 2000 documents support a number of HTML elements, particularly hyperlinks, but only Word supports scrolling marquees; Excel and PowerPoint do not.
