Symptoms
When you try to start Visual Studio 2010, one of the following issues occurs if the _BuildArch or _BuildType environment variable is set:

Visual Studio 2010 does not build some Visual C++ projects.

The Properties page of a Visual C++ project does not appear, or some properties for the project do not work correctly on the Properties page.

This issue occurs because of an error in Visual Studio 2010.

Workaround
To work around this issue, unset the _BuildArch and _BuildType environment variables before you start Visual Studio 2010.
