SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 (SP3) in an Exchange Server 2007 Cluster Continuous Replication (CCR) environment. You run a backup operation on the passive node. In this scenario, the log files are not truncated even if the backup operation is completed. Therefore, the disk space is not released. () Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log on the active node () :

Event Type:         Error
Event Source:        ESE
Event ID:      214
Description:
MSExchangeIS (xxxx) <storage group>: The backup has stopped with error -521.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the following update rollup:
