Catalog error 80040154 accessing MTS by using MMC

SYMPTOMS

When you try to access Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) by using Microsoft Management Console (MMC), you receive the following error message:
An error occurred accessing components in the System package on this computer. Error code was 80040154. Make sure that:

+ Microsoft Transaction Server is installed correctly.
+ If you have set a specific identity for the system package, check that the user account and password are correct, and user is a member of the local NT Administrators group.
The only option is an OK button that returns to MMC.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the catalog object (Mtxcatex.dll) has not been registered correctly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the problem, reregister the catalog object, Mtxcatex.dll. To do this, run the following command:
regsvr32.exe C:\winnt\system32\mts\mtxcatex.dll
